Q: Are flash back arrestors necessary on cutting rigs?
A: Yes, flash back arrestors are required by law (and it also just makes good sense because these devices are for your own protection). Most modern equipment has flash back arrestors already built in but older equipment requires an individual arrestor that must be used to prevent backfires and explosions.

Q: How pure are your gases?
A: The purity of gases varies, however we can provide you with purity certificates from Linde Industrial Gases upon request.

Q: What is the difference between Chemtane2 and acetylene?
A: Chemtane2 is a propane product with special additives that is used as a replacement for acetylene when cutting steel. Chemtane2 provides a good, clean cut and is much more cost effective than acetylene. In fact, one 100 lb. cylinder of Chemtane2 will outlast seven bottles of acetylene.

Q: What is the difference between fire resistant and fire retardant clothing?
A: They are actually the same thing. All fire resistant clothing will eventually burn if the heat source is not removed. However, this type of clothing prevents the heat from injuring your skin for a much longer period of time than regular clothing.

Q: Where can I find MSDS sheets?
A: We have provided Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all gases that we carry here on our website in the Safety section.

Q: Why is helium so expensive?
A: Helium is a gas that is produced naturally by the earth. Currently, there are only about five locations in the entire world where helium is produced, and these sources are dwindling which continually drives up the price of helium. Unless efforts are made to find new sources of helium, you can expect the price of this rare gas to continue rising.
